Château de Bachen

On a promontory overlooking the Adour valley Château de Bachen, a property owned by the Guérard family since 1983, is located. Château de Bachen, was built in 1235 and rebuilt during the 17th century. The estate is at the heart of the Tursan vineyards previously owned by Aliénor of Aquitaine.
Planted in 1984, the vines started to produce in 1987, the year of the first wine by Christine and Michel Guérard.
Since then the estate has been enlarged and currently stretches over 25 hectares.
In 1991, the winery was redesigned by architect Jean de Gastines.
Several autochthonous grape varieties are cultivated here: Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng, Baroque, Tannat, but also the two royal varieties of the Bordeaux region: Merlot and Cabernet.
Château de Bachen makes two white wines: Baron de Bachen and Château de Bachen but also two red wines: Barocco and Rouge de Bachen and finally a rosé, Rosa la Rose.
“The blending that I carry out together with my winemaking friends is always a magical moment. It’s extraordinary to see what one can do,” Michel Guérard.
