Built in the 14th century, Château Monestier La Tour overlooks the village of Monestier. It is the gem of an estate stretching over more than 100 hectares, of which more than a third is devoted to vines under the appellations of Bergerac and Saussignac.
Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, a great wine lover, explored different regions in viticultural France before he fell under the spell of Monestier and its château in January 2012.
Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, the co-chairman of the Chopard company, is a perfectionist who has a very special relationship with nature and time. His ambition was to build an estate which would be able to produce wines complying with his ethical convictions: this is how biodynamic cultivation became an obvious choice. The creation of a vegetable and herbal tea garden offers the possibility to produce, dry and stock all the plants to be used for the treatment of the vine. The fate of Monestier La Tour is tied to this virtuous approach which contributes over time a qualitative improvement of the terroirs through a sustainable respect of the soils and the ecosystem.
